All about the Darings - in 5 minutes

Beautiful Yachts
A one-design class based off an Olympic 5.5m design from 1956, the Daring has classic racing lines and is one of the most recognisable and handsome yachts of its type.

Plenty of Racing
With a mixture of laid courses and and "round-the-cans" racing, the Darings have at least three races scheduled every weekend from May - Sept, and race in Cowes Week and Cowes Classics. 60 races completed in a season is quite normal.

Simplicity
Wet-sailed, the boats are kept on swinging moorings for a hassle-free experience. Sails up, let's go!
With no weight limits, you don't need to think too hard about your crew, which is normally (but not strictly) 3-4 people.

Active Class Association
The committee works hard to give members a great time, both on the water and off it. Sociable and chatty, the groups and forums are great for both making friends and solving problems! We believe in talking to our members, who are key to running the class.

Cost Management
We understand that sailing is an expensive sport, and do what we can to manage costs for owners. Sails, modifications and maintenance are coordinated and controlled to limit the ability to "spend to win".

Regular Communications
From reading about the weekend's racing you missed, to hearing about exciting plans, we recognise the value of good engagement with our members.
The right messages on the right media makes you feel part of a community.
